Today, I woke up thinking about someone very special, Bruce Lee. On this day, July 20th, he passed away back in 1973. Even though this was a long time ago, his energy, strength, and ideas are still alive in the hearts of many people. No matter which style of martial arts someone studies, many still honor Bruce Lee because of his dedication, creativity, and wisdom.
In 2021, I drew a portrait of Bruce Lee. It was one of those art pieces that felt personal and powerful.
Later that same year, I learned how to turn it into something called an NFT, which stands for non-fungible token. This drawing was one of my first pieces of art that became digital so that it can be shared or collected online in a safe, trackable way.
Why I Made My Bruce Lee Drawing into an NFT
The beautiful thing about turning a traditional art piece into an NFT is that you only have to make the drawing once, but you can create many different versions that each tell a unique story.
Here is what I did:
- First, I removed the background using an app called PowerPoint.
- Then, I added a soft and peaceful background that felt right to me.
- I also included a quote from Bruce Lee that inspired me.
Later, I placed the same drawing on a picture of Lake Erie, one of my favorite places to run to when I was in middle and high school. I even added a moving background to bring the piece to life.
I did not redraw Bruce Lee each time. I just gave the same artwork a new mood and message by changing the background and the words. It was like dressing up your art in new outfits for different occasions!
How NFTs Help You Share Your Art in Creative Ways
NFT platforms allow you to take one piece of art and show it in many styles:
- One with bright colors
- One with peaceful nature scenes
- One with quotes or memories
- One with animation or movement
These variations mean more people can connect with your art in the way that speaks to them the most. Some collectors might love still images. Others might feel more inspired by moving art or words added on top. And you do not have to redo your whole drawing each time. Just imagine, one beautiful piece of art can grow into many meaningful versions!
